Creating LiSTNR – Speed, Strategy & Impact
Company: SCA
Project: LiSTNR Native App MVP
Role: Product Design Lead, Design Systems, User Testing & Research
LiSTNR was created to consolidate all of SCA’s audio assets into a single platform, requiring a strategic adaptation of the existing PC1 design and build. To meet aggressive timelines, we developed a modular component system, enabling rapid iteration with minimal code refactoring. Leveraging previous research and testing, we ensured a strong foundation for UX decisions while aligning new features with clearly defined hypotheses, which we validated through early adopter feedback.
Move Fast, Build Smart
To meet tight deadlines, we adopted an agile approach, prioritising speed without compromising quality. By developing a modular component system, we enabled rapid iteration and minimised code refactoring, allowing the team to move quickly while maintaining stability. This approach ensured we could test, adapt, and scale efficiently as the platform evolved.
Building on What Works
Rather than starting from scratch, we leveraged existing research, user insights, and a pre-established component system to inform key decisions. Reusing proven UI patterns allowed us to accelerate development while maintaining consistency, ensuring that new features aligned with user needs without reinventing the wheel. This strategic reuse streamlined workflows, reduced technical debt, and enabled faster delivery.
Designing for Differentiation
While efficiency was crucial, we also prioritized crafting a unique visual and user experience for LiSTNR. By refining branding, layout, and interaction patterns, we added a layer of distinctiveness that set the platform apart from competitors, reinforcing its identity as a premium audio destination.
